Glossary

Active epoch

The corpus generation whose eligible evidence may inform current learning and synthesis.

Corpus

The active, evidence-backed learning surface. It is not synonymous with the complete decisions ledger.

DSR

Deflated Sharpe Ratio: a Sharpe-based evidence measure adjusted for selection across multiple trials.

Fidelity

Whether the executable reconstruction answers the submitted claim rather than a convenient proxy.

Holdout

A reserved confirmation dataset inaccessible to discovery and consumable once for a distinct claim.

Legacy Epoch 0

Preserved historical records that predate the current epoch and metadata contract.

MDE

Minimum detectable effect: the smallest effect the available sample could reliably resolve.

P9

The human-only authorization gate after the automated referee has completed.

Receipt

A cryptographic record binding the claim, reconstruction, data footprint, search context, engine, and verdict.

Routing state

An honest stop such as needs_data or cannot_replicate, distinct from a research verdict.

Search cohort

A preregistered group of claims or candidates produced by one search process.

Search denominator

The size of the registered search population used to deflate selected results.

Survivor

A claim that reaches watch or research-supported; never a synonym for profitable.

Trial ledger

The protected record used to account for strategy searches and multiple testing.

Penrose is a falsification referee for quantitative trading claims. A verdict is evidence about survival under the referee, never a trading instruction.
